Police Seize $239K In Cash, 73 Pounds Of Pot During Search Of Maryland Home

Earlier this month, detectives were tipped off about possible drug distribution activity in the Northern District, concluding with the arrest of 25-year-old Shawn Lamont Matthews, Jr., who is now facing charges.

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, on Wednesday, May 23, officers executed a search warrant in the 900 block of Dorchester Cove Road in Hanover, which resulted in the seizure of: 

  • Glock 43 9mm handgun with ammunition;
  • Smith & Wesson .380 caliber handgun with ammunition;
  • Approximately 73 pounds of suspected cannabis;
  • $239,237 in cash;
  • Packaging material/scales.

Officials said that Matthews is facing drug, weapon, and related charges.
